Fine Art Restoration of Mountain Paintings
Old Mountain Paintings in oil or watercolour generally suffer some form of deterioration
over the years and often caused by the use of non-archival materials in the mount
or wood in the frame. Some of this can be really quite severe and will show itself
through brown spot ‘foxing’ and burns from pine wood backing boards. Dirt, dust and
the atmosphere in which paintings are kept take their toll over the years, but the
real enemy of watercolour is direct sunshine.
